The Hudson River was once called Mahicantuck – meaning “great waters in constant motion” or, “river that flows two ways.” It takes two months for driftwood from Albany/Troy to reach the sea. Along the way, the tidal waters make arrangements on the banks. They find order by weight and through interactions with the land and each other. The retreating tide leaves compositions in mysterious balance.
